Fight Synopsis:

Z Gorres lost in this February 02, 2007 boxing fight against WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel. The latter disappointed the Cebuanos watching in the Cebu City Sports Complex, Cebu, Philippines when he won via a split-decision. When you watch the the video here, you will see that hroughout the fight, it seemed as if the Filipino boxer will go home a winner. This was hindered though by two point deductions for holding, once in the tenth round and once in round twelve.

In the video, it is also noticeable how Gorres was up on the cards after round nine, but Montiel landing power punches in tenth round. This put the Pinoy fighter to hold Montiel in order to survive the round. This was repeated in the final round with Gorres rocking and holding just to survive. The only thing he did not survived with was the deductions on him. The scores were 115-111 Montiel, 115-111 Gorres, and 114-112 Montiel. In that event, Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao was watching from ringside noting that Gorres was not aggressive enough that’s why he lost to Montiel.

Fight Synopsis:

In the Sports & Cultural Complex, of Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, Z Gorres earned a much-needed redemption from his previous loss when he merged victorious over Wisanu Pornobnum. The Thai who vowed to defeat his Filipino opponent gave in during their October 29, 2005 duel.
The brawl in the first round as shown in a video here saw Gorres’ hard jabs and snappy uppercuts to which his rival responded with straight lefts and rights. It was not long before reddish welts began to appear on the Thai’s face as an evidence of Gorres’ prowess.

Watch here the video where Gorres was acing the first round and proceeded to conquering the next round. Z was obviously more powerful and had found a rhythm of handing the Thai a steady diet of jabs and stinging body blows. Adding to this was his superiority technically. Pornobnum tried to bounce back in the third round and landed a few rights, but Z swiftly turned the tide by belting a plethora of hard bombs and blistering combinations.

“Early in Round 4, Z unhanded a monstrous uppercut followed by a stinging jab with the Thai fighter defenseless. His head snapped back viciously before falling down in a heap while Z strolled to the neutral corner. See for yourself in a video here how Gorres went for the kill. The Filipino knocked his enemy down via merciless overhand right. Pornobnum was dazed in the mat for ten minutes. With that victory, Z earned the right to challenge Masayuki Arinaga for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super-flyweight title.

See in a video here how AJ “Bazooka” Banal became one of the Pinoy pugilists who outpointed all their foreign opponents in the boxing fest ambitiously called “INVASION: Philippines Against the World” staged at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Banal’s fight against Carl Herrera was held on the 6th of April this year. He made the Filipinos proud immediately so watch the video as this duel was the first bout of the boxing event. Witness the trade of punches in the video of the first three rounds. The rampage in the ring went on with the usual explosive hits switchings between the two fighters. The referee stopped fight in the 4th of the 12-round bout. A flurry of punches to the face sent Herrera for a standing eight-count in the 3rd round! The technical knockout was clocked at 1:18 into the 4th round.

Fight Synopsis:

AJ “Bazooka” Banal ruled in the boxing event tag as “PAYBACK: Resbak para sa Kababayan” where he became the last one standing in the ring. AJ victimized Mexican Bambino Soto via KO in the 9th round at the Araneta Coliseum. Shown here is a video of the December 02, 2007 dust of the battles. Watch how the formidable ALA Gym jewel, Banal snatched victory from the Mexican’s clutches way back when the fight had just started. The second round was more of a trade of punches between the two boxers. As one may observed when you watch the video of the full fight, the two had contrasting fight styles.

By the next rounds the fight progressed through a fierce exchange. As shown in the video, Soto has the reach and height advantage but his defense openings were an easy target for Banal’s powerful jabs. This went on till the fight had its closure one round shy of the planned tenure of the duel. Despite the eight round being Soto’s, AJ Banal rocked’ the body and the head of his opponent. The Filipino boxer further sealed his win by releasing a perfect right hand send Soto sprawling in the canvas. Banal went for a kill when his rival tried to regain his composure. His blows send Soto staggering in his corner to end the fight.
