David Diaz weighted in at exactly 135 pounds, while Manny Pacquiao’s weight was even lower than that at 134.5 pounds. This means both fighters passed the weigh-in and all is go at the fight tommorow at Las Vegas, Nevada. Below are some pictures of the fighters during the “ceremony.” It is really unclear to me why David Diaz is doing his best to show off his body when everyone can clearly see Manny Pacquiao is as cool as a cat.

Manny Pacquiao is my winner for the fight against David Diaz on June 28 29, 2008 at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. More than Filipino pride, I’m basing my prediction on Manny’s ring record, his punching power, speed, and the stamina he has shown in previous outings against Barrera and Marquez. David Diaz on the other hand is a very hardy fighter, never backs down, a natural lightweight, and has some tricks of his own. I saw him fight and he was much more of a brawler than a real boxer. Thus I don’t think the judges will consider him a winner when the result of the fight becomes a slugfest. Manny Pacquiao will pick him apart with lightning speed punches and that trademark right-hand jab and then sliding to the right.

Manny Pacquiao versus David Diaz Winner Prediction and Fight Odds

The Las Vegas odds are currently in Pacquiao’s favor, with the win ratio at 4 is to 1. That means Vegas is 80% sure Pacquiao is gonna win this fight on June 28. I think they should have upped it to a 100.

Finally, a free video of the latest fight of Edwin Valero versus Takehiro Shimada. Somebody with a good heart just posted this on Youtube, and Edwin Valero whi is Japan-based and very popular with his tons of full fight videos on Youtube (full fights because most were quick ones) extends his record to 24-0 Win-Loss card with a staggering record of 24 KOs. Yes, you heard that right. You’re probably wondering why this guy is not recruited for the big-money fights in Las Vegas? Well, that’s because he is ineligible to play in the United States, after the Boxing Committee waived his permit to fight when he failed an MRI exam. Since then Valero dominated the Japanese boxing scene, and still up to this point is waylaying opponents on the side streets with sheer knockout power. The latest victim is no other than Japanese Takehiro Shimada, from whom Edwin Valero defended his WBA SuperFeatherweight belt.

Manny Pacquiao began his training for the June 28 David Diaz bout April 28. Manny toyed with the boxing bag, shadow boxing, speedball and sit-ups for conditioning at the Golingan Gym, General Santos City for a full week. After that his next training was with long-time buddy and Filipino coach Buboy Fernandez at Gerry Peñalosa Gym, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila as shown here in a video below. When May 10 arrived he continued his training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles for next seven weeks.

The People’s Champ tactic depends on his speed. This is his primary weapon in the fight to grabbed the WBC Lightweight belt. Let’s see if the his special weapon will be effective to his Chicago based opponent. His coach, Freddie Roach is confident enough that Manny will outpoint david Diaz.

David Diaz in turn had also his training at Berkeley in anticipation of the fight which will be held at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. You will see in a video provided here that Diaz is sharpening his powerful jabs. Here in the video of the WBC lightweight champ Diaz had his training during a public workout in Berkeley, CA on May 31st. He had to polish his expertise in knocking out lefties which is his specialty. This maybe his tactic to win in the said upcoming boxing clash.
