The 7-foot, 321-pound Nikolai Valuev will face returning fighter John Ruiz in Berlin, Germany today August 30, 2008 for the WBA interim heavyweight title. It seems the heavyweight fights are all being aired and fought in the Germany now (i.e. Klitschko) because heavyweights are losing their popularity in the US.

I watched that fight and can’t say exactly who won, because Cazares was the heavy puncher and was able to connect some good punches but missed a lot, and Calderon danced around the ring all night long, was able to connect some hooks and uppercuts, but never really hurt Cazares. Tune in to your local TV for the coverage as I am sure this will not be a PPV fight.

Willy Wang bested 10 other athletes in the no-weapon category, and 2 other Filipino got bronzes in their respective Wushu games.
