Fight Synopsis:
Reynaldo “Boom Boom” Bautista emerged victorious in his bout against Argentina’s Sergio Manuel Medina via a 12-round unanimous decision. This showdown of unbeaten super bantamweights took place on the 5th of April, 2007. Bautista was among five unbeaten fighters from outside North America fighting on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Oscar de la Hoya super-welterweight showdown held at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
With this victory, Bautista improved to 29-0. Medina fell to 22-1. Watch here the video where in the full fight, the Filipino boxer suffered a one-point deduction in this boxing clash. The video shows how he got deducted for low blows in the fifth round only to bounce back by knocking down Medina late in the sixth round. Medina replied with a furious flurry in the seventh round, hammering the Filipino fighter against the ropes twice. That was before Bautista clinched twice and reached the end of the round. He had Medina down in the canvas with a right blow to the jaw of the Argentine, who staggered and fell midway of the 11th round. Medina refused to be knocked out but never recovered. The judges awarded him the victory by scores of 115-109, 115-109 and 116-108.
