This fight with Margarito is the most publicized fight of Manny Pacquiao after the 8th round TKO win against Oscar Dela Hoya. That’s mostly because Margarito has one of the worst issues as a boxer— he was caught cheating with a hardened pad in his gloves two fights ago when he faced Shane Mosley. The dream fight for many boxing fans is Pacquiao-Mayweather, but that wouldn’t happen so this fight at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on HBO PPV on November 13 2010 9PM ET is the next logical step for Bob Arum the promoter. Anyway the story remains to be a hero-villain battle.

Margarito is a dangerous fighter. I watched his fight with Miguel Cotto and thought he absorbed some really stiff jabs and powerful hooks from Cotto, and he just kept coming forward. Cotto kept at it for 8 or so rounds and Margarito was practically offering his face as punching bag. Cotto eventually got tired and when that happened, Margarito capitalized and finally landed some real heavy shots to Cotto’s head until Cotto was spitting blood. I’m not sure if it’s Cotto’s conditioning that should be questioned, but I’m pretty sure Margarito can absorb heavy punches well (some boxing analysts would say he has an iron chin) and that includes Manny’s.

The key for Manny though is speed. It’s been his advantage over the bigger and taller Dela Hoya and Cotto, and what he has prepared for in the Nov 13 bout. Couple that with power and in a few rounds, Margarito’s face can become a mess, hopefully affecting his eyesight. It will be justa matter of minutes once this happens.

My prediction for the winner of this fight goes to Manny Pacquiao with a 10th round stoppage. I’m basing this on how he handled Cotto, and because Margarito is more game than Joshua Clottey. Expect Manny to get tagged a few times but most Tony punches will probably miss.
