UPDATE: PACQUIAO WINS VIA TKO IN THE 8TH ROUND. DE LA HOYA GIVES UP. Round-by-round coverage from Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports

The Dream Match is on and the winner, believe it or not, is both fighters, each taking home millions of dollars for this mega-fight. Many of you can’t wait to see the results of this much awaited bout, and even some are skeptical that it’s hardly a boxing match between two “equal” fighters, but whatever you may think, Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao from the Philippines will be dancing in the ring with no other than Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya, perhaps the two most lucrative fighters now in boxing. The fight will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which will be broadcasted on Pay-Per-View (PPV) by HBO at the catch weight of 147 lbs. Here in the Philippines, there are a variety of ways to watch the fight (for free) including live streaming video from the Internet. Want to know how to do that? Read on. Subscribe to our feeds to get updates on the fight.

Oscar Dela Hoya versus Manny Pacquiao is admittedly Pacquiao’s biggest bout, even bigger than the latter’s fights with Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barerra, and Erik Morales combined. Not only will this fight make him the highest paid Filipino-Asian boxer of all time, it will also make him one of the most popular by fighting the currently undisputed most popular figure in boxing which is Dela Hoya. There are a lot of angles on this fight, and I will try to discuss them all here while trying not to bore you.

First of course is the weight difference. Pacquiao started out at 106lbs and only fought once at 135lbs, while Dela Hoya started at 140lbs and fought as high as 160. Can Pacquiao carry his speed and power to 147 lbs? In the same breath—can Dela Hoya lose the weight and still feel good during the fight? My take on this is that Pacquiao hasthe advantage with respect to speed and power because he normally walks around weighing 150 pounds. Meanwhile, it will take a toll on Dela Hoya’s body to lose weight and then gain 10 or more pounds on fight night. Winner : Pacquiao

Then of course there is the height and reach discrepancy. Oscar Dela Hoya has a 4 inch height and 6 inch reach difference with the Pacman, and for any quick-thinking being out there, this spells doom for the shorter fighter. I honestly don’t know of Pacquiao’s speed will be effective with this disadvantage, but I am willing to admit that Dela Hoya has the edge on this. Winner : Dela Hoya

And lastly, there is the age difference. Manny Pacquiao is at the prime of hisboxing career at 30 years old, while Dela Hoya is considered old for boxing already at 35 years old. Both has almost the same number of fights under their belt, and there is no reason fo us to think that Pacquiao gets the points on this one. Winner : Pacquiao

So my prediction for this fight is that—tandararan!! Manny Pacquiao will run away with the later-round knockout or the unanimous decision on Saturday night. A side note that I forgot to tell you here is that Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, has trained Dela Hoya for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight last year, which the Golden Boy lost. Roach says that he know Dela Hoya inside out and there is no way he can pull the trigger on the PacMan. I believe him. What do you think? So now, how to watch Dela Hoya vs Pacquiao for free on the Internet. Well, before we get to the free ones, I feel compelled to tell you that there is no better way to catch a Live Boxing match than on TV. I have spent the entire year trying to watch the PPV fights online and I always found myself wanting. Online media is good for knowing the results before other people do, but for you to get a real experience of the fight, you will have to watch it on TV. Anyhoo, here are the ways to watch the match and the undercards, including the foolproof one.

    1. Go to Pambihirang Videos or BlueMumble’s website. I know those people and usually they post an alternate feed for the fight.

    2. Use SopCast and other Streaming Video software. I’ll try to post the server settings here if I get hold of some.

    3. Constantly check justin.tv for links on the live fight video. Sometimes the fight is hosted there as well, but for PPV bouts, the justin.tv people usually take it down right when the action is going to start. Bummer.

    4. Go to Yahoo! Sports to see if they have previews or even live feeds of the undercards. I don’t think they will carry the main event though.

    5. PLDT MyDSL and 3G is offering the fight on your internet connection and your 3G enabled mobile phone. It will cost you less than P30 I think for the whole fight, but I doubt if it’s worth it considering the quality even if you pay a hundred.

    6. Go to SM Cinemas and other malls nationwide. They sell tickets for 500 Pesos and you get towatch the fight in real-time and on the big screen.

    7. Slug it out with the millions of commercials that GMA TV Channel 7 has to offer along with the free telecast of the Pacquiao-Dela Hoya fight. The schedule is on Sunday morning, and the fights start at 10am. I wish they air the weigh-in video as well along with the pre-fight news and happenings.

    8. Pay your cable company to get The Dream Match live on your channels.

    9. Watch out for the more tamed replay (but commercial-ridden nonetheless) coverage of CS Sports which will be broadcasted at 9PM on Sunday night.

    10. Stay tuned to this website of course. While you are at it, subscribe to our feeds. Video of the fight from youtube and other video-hosting services are posted here immediately.

If you have other ways of watching the fight live, please share them here.

I think there are still ticket available for the fight, and it would pain us to know that Pacquiao is the underdog on the betting tables with an 8-5 odds in favor of Dela Hoya.

I plan on giving a video showcase of the two fighters before fight night, including their features on HBO Boxing (the 24/7 4-part series), their newly-released Greatest Hits Video, Career Highlights, Best Knockouts, and documentary videos. I’ll do this in the next few days. Watch out for that.

Great blog post. The things i would like to bring about is that computer system memory should be purchased should your computer still cannot cope with anything you do by using it. One can mount two random access memory boards containing 1GB each, for instance, but not one of 1GB and one with 2GB. One should always check the car maker’s documentation for one’s PC to make certain what type of ram is necessary.
