Undefeated Joan Guzman will move up in weight to face the WBA-WBO-IBF Lightweight Champion in the person of Nate Campbell. Winner of a convincing performance against Juan Diaz last March, Nate Campbell asserted his position as the lighweight champion by defeating one of the tough ones, that’s until Manny Pacquiao moved up in weight and captured the WBC Lightweight belt. (Well, I think Pacquiao is taking his pound-for-pound belt literally by taking on Oscar Dela Hoya at 147lbs and planning on Ricky Hatton at light welterweight next year). The fight will be held at Biloxi, Mississippi and will be shown live on ShowTime. Other TV broacasts and coverage may also be available in your country. Videos from Youtube can be accessed right after the fight, so there is no reason to miss this one.
Joan Guzman is the faster and quicker fighter, and surprisingly enough, holds a 2-1 advantage on the betting tables. But the champion is no pushover, and with the talent that Nate Campbell has, there is no reason to believe that one is a heavier favorite than the other. Mostly I would like to believe that this will be one hell of a fight between two outstanding boxers.

This bout promises to be a defining fight in the talented to Lighweight Division, and the winner between Campbell and Guzman may fight the winner of the Marquez vs Casamayor fight. It’s a little funny though that the recognized division champion Manny Pacquiao may not be fighting any one of them at all, because there are bigger paydays elsewhere. And let’s not forget Edwin Valero.
