Three seconds into round 1 of ther fight, Ray Austin unleashed a massive hook that sent Andrew Golota to the floor, prompting the referee to shoo Austin away to a neutral corner and giving Golota the standing 8 count in their non-title WBC Heavyweight fight in Chengdu, China yesterday, November 7, 2008. Golota did not rise from his corner for the start of the 2nd round, apparently because of an injured bicep which he got from the first round. I have the video of the Austin vs Golota bout right here from Youtube, and you can clearly see Golota paying attention to his left bicep.

Austin was not pleased with the result of the match although he won by TKO. Video of the replay after the jump.

…WBC strawweight title fight, Juan Palacios of Nicaragua won a seventh-round TKO over Teruo Misawa of Japan when the referee stopped the fight 2:28 in the round.

Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico Sammy Ventura of Mexico on a fourth-round TKO of their lightweight fight and Devon Alexander of the United States improved to 16-0 with a fourth-round TKO over Lee Sun-haeng of South Korea.

Alexander is the WBC’s No. 1 title contender at super lightweight and is in line for a title fight with Timothy Bradley.
