Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi. The Hitman vs The Magic Man. The Brit vs The Italian. The Wrestler vs The Boxer.

You can all call this fight anyway you want but I prefer to call it simply Hatton versus Malignaggi, Ricky’s defense of the being the top fighterand the winner of the Super Lightweight (or Jr. Welterweight) category against up and coming Italian boxer Paulie Malignaggi on November 22, 2008 at the MGM Grand Casino and Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, to be televised on live broadcast video by HBO PPV (Pay-Per-View). Yes, you would have to spend some dough to watch this semi-lackluster bout between two boxers who are out to prove the world that they are the king in 140 lbs division.

As usual, the free live streaming video of this fight will be all over the Internet, but if you are in the Philippines, the best way to watch is through Channel 2 at 10AM on Sunday, November 23. I think Boom-boom Bautista is on the undercard of this bout so there is no reason for you to catch it on TV. Be prepared to deal with the endless commercials though as our local stations are merciless when trying to milk advertisers of their marketing money, at the expense of a wasted Sunday for Filipinos.

Paulie Malignaggi is a self-confessed handsome man, someone who can tell to your face that he is the prettiest boxer. More than his looks though, Malignaggi is also a slick boxer, and even with a 5 knockout record for 25 bouts, he claims he can dance around Ricky Hatton and hit him wherever he wants. If confidence level can win a bout, Paulie is sure to run away with Hatton’s belt, along with the ire of 4000 British fans. He has the speed and the boxing skills to give Hatton some trouble. Watch him in action below. Yes, he’s the one treating Miguel Cotto like a punching bag.

Although Hatton will probably not suffer a knockout, he will endure some stingy punches from the Magic Man. The Hitman though has strengths of his own and will most likely take the fight to Malignaggi without much regard for defense. If he doesn’t mind those stingy jabs and swooshing rights, one of his haymakers will probably hit its mark and bring Paulie down.

The odds on this fight is at 14-5, with Hatton heavily-favored. I’m willing to bet my behind though that Paulie Malignaggi will indeed dance around Hatton and come away with a one sided Unanimous Decision. What’s your prediction?
