Wladimir Klitschko (or Vladimir Klitschko), the great Ukranian champion, defends his IBF and WBO Heavyweight Title against a former sparring mate Tony Thompson of the USA on July 12, Saturday, at Hamburg, Germany where Klitschko’s career started. This boxing fight will be aired live and free in many a sports channel around the globe, not to mention free streaming videos, albeit delayed, on some websites.
Although Klitschko unified the IBF and WBO belt, and despite having a 50-3-(44) Win-Loss-(Knockout) card, he is still not considered one of the heavyweight greats in the likes of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and Lennox Lewis. For most boxing fans and sports analyst, Klitschko is hanging onto the title mainly because of small competition and lack of talent in the Heavyweight division. I personally think this is unfair for such a good fighter (you should watch all of his knockout videos on Youtube). This fight then is a necessary win to cement Wladimir’s legacy in boxing.
My prediction for this fight is that Klitschko will win by a knockout on the early rounds. The winner will be Klitschko, not only of the title itself, but of the respect of the boxing world.
Here are some of his videos on Youtube.
