Rey “BoomBoom” Bautista will go up against contender Heriberto Ruiz on November 22, 2008 (November 2003 here in the Philippines) at the MGM Grand Hotel, Las Vegas as an undercard fight of the Hatton vs Malignaggi fight on HBO PPV. Boomboom sports a 1 loss record to the hands of Daniel Ponce de Leon, while Ruiz has 7 losses but 23 KOs in 39 fights. This should be an easy battle for Boom-boom with an over-the-hill fighter and I wouldn’t be surprised with an early round knockout. It will be broadcasted live by ABS-CBN Channel 2 on Sunday morning, and will be available on the Internet through streaming video. Watch out for the links.

Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi. The Hitman vs The Magic Man. The Brit vs The Italian. The Wrestler vs The Boxer.

You can all call this fight anyway you want but I prefer to call it simply Hatton versus Malignaggi, Ricky’s defense of the being the top fighterand the winner of the Super Lightweight (or Jr. Welterweight) category against up and coming Italian boxer Paulie Malignaggi on November 22, 2008 at the MGM Grand Casino and Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, to be televised on live broadcast video by HBO PPV (Pay-Per-View). Yes, you would have to spend some dough to watch this semi-lackluster bout between two boxers who are out to prove the world that they are the king in 140 lbs division.

As usual, the free live streaming video of this fight will be all over the Internet, but if you are in the Philippines, the best way to watch is through Channel 2 at 10AM on Sunday, November 23. I think Boom-boom Bautista is on the undercard of this bout so there is no reason for you to catch it on TV. Be prepared to deal with the endless commercials though as our local stations are merciless when trying to milk advertisers of their marketing money, at the expense of a wasted Sunday for Filipinos.

Update: Ricky Hatton Wins via TKO on the 11 round

The Battle of the Ageless, as I would like to call this upcoming bout between Randy Couture vs Brock Lesnar, one of the most highly-anticipated fights in UFC History, earning a PPV slot and paid streaming video this coming Saturday night, November 15, 2008 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. For those who want to see the free streaming media of this fight on the Internet, I suggest you get the money now and pay for the actual PPV as I am pretty sure those free videos will be taken down as soon as the fight starts (just like what happened a week ago with the Calzaghe-Jones fight). PPV on TV for MMA UFC is not such a bad thing, because UFC fights are the most entertaining to watch. Not to mention that you get to know the results and winners immediately.

Going back to the main fighters–Randy Couture, current champion, has held five different championship in his career, both from the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight divisions. He is coming from a 15 months fight-free as he had legal issues with the the UFC management after he decided to resign. Brock Lesnar on the other hand was a former pro wrestler who now poses the greatest threat to Couture’s reign as champion.
