Evander Holyfield, winner of fights agains Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe, comes out of retirement to test the Heavyweight waters once again by fighting for the WBA Heavyweight crown against 7-footer Nikolai Valuev of Russia. Holyfield has won the Heavyweight belt four times already in different eras, and will smash the record again if he wins for the fifth time. The bout will held at Zurich, Switzerland this Saturday, December 20, and will be broadcasted live to the US through PPV.
This just came in from Youtube. Unfortunately, no one has uploaded the complete fight yet, nad even the video below, the sole Round 8 after which Oscar De La Hoy threw in the towel, might be taken out by Youtube just as quickly. Enjy the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya Fight Video round 8 while it’s hot.
While the world is busy in anticipation over the Delahoya-Pacquiao fight, a fight is brewing a world away in London between two Heavyweight contenders Matthew Ellis and Enzo Maccarinelli. Amir Khan, the much-esteemed boxer who is figured to be the next best thing in British boxing (and who suffered his first loss this year), returns to the ring as well with credible Oisin Fagan as his opponent.
Before, I thought Gerry Penalosa or Boom-Boom Bautista will be on the undercard of The Dream Match, but now I cannot seem to verify whether Penalosa is indeed fighting. I only got to see two other bouts for the fight on Saturday evening. Fight list after the jump.
The weigh-in is currently being officiated in the MGM Grand Arena, with both boxers expected to tip the scales at 147 lbs. My guess though is that Pacquiao will weigh a little less, and tommorow, De La Hoya will appear like a 160 pounder like the boxer that he truly is. Pacquiao’s weight would probably be in 145-150 lbs mark come fight night. See the results of the weigh-ins live.
