Fight Synopsis:

Still in Sports and Cultural Complex, Mandaue City, Philippines was where AJ Banal then dubbed as the “17-year old Pinoy Prospect” avenged his compatriots that became victims of the tagged, “Pinoy Destroyer” of Indonesia. The Filipino boxer stopped Angky Angkota despite the combination punches the latter unleashed. It was actually a furious encounter between two above averaged skill pugilist. The fight saw its end by the 10th round with Banal winning by virtue of a knockout.

He fights with the three Ps of boxing: Power, placement and pressure. He brawls on occasion, and when he does, he avoids swinging wildly. Instead, AJ plants his feet firmly in the canvas, giving leverage and more fuel to his blows.

By this time though he has not yet reached the status of a world-caliber fighter. His training in the Wild Card Gym under Freddie Roach was a positive sign that there were greater things in line for this southpaw.
