Now this is more like it. HBO has an update on Pacquiao’s Greatest Hits and the best highlight reels of his career are all in this video. There is no doubt that his superstardom is born on the night TKO’ed Marco Antonio Barerra, and his dominance of Mexican fighters made people tag him as the Mexicutioner. He doesn’t want to be known as that though.

He wants to be the best. Right now, most boxing analysts consider Manny Pacquiao the best pound-for-pound fighter of the generation, and Pacquiao vs De La Hoya is only a means to establish that fact. He doesn’t need to beat The Golden Boy though to prove that. This fight, entitled The Dream Match, is a testament to Pacquiao’s popularity rather than his boxing skills. De La Hoya chose to fight him because it will net the two fighters the most amount of money than if they fight other boxers of their level.

Here’s the greatest hits video, as promised.

UPDATE: PACQUIAO WINS VIA TKO IN THE 8TH ROUND. DE LA HOYA GIVES UP. Round-by-round coverage from Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports

The Dream Match is on and the winner, believe it or not, is both fighters, each taking home millions of dollars for this mega-fight. Many of you can’t wait to see the results of this much awaited bout, and even some are skeptical that it’s hardly a boxing match between two “equal” fighters, but whatever you may think, Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao from the Philippines will be dancing in the ring with no other than Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya, perhaps the two most lucrative fighters now in boxing. The fight will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which will be broadcasted on Pay-Per-View (PPV) by HBO at the catch weight of 147 lbs. Here in the Philippines, there are a variety of ways to watch the fight (for free) including live streaming video from the Internet. Want to know how to do that? Read on. Right after Pacquiao emerged the victor with his fight against Diaz, the entire Boston Celtics basketball team, current NBA Champions after humbling Kobe Bryant’s Lakers, went to celebrate with him in the locker room for some picture taking. The NBA champs including Kevin “the Big Ticket” Garnett, Finals MVP Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, Rajon Rondo, and many more joined the celebration with Pacquiao. Apparently, Pacquiao’s favorite basketball player is Kevin Garnett, and the encounter was “a dream come true” for him. Kevin Garnett also expressed his admiration for the Pound-for-Pound King.

In this video you will see the entire Boston Celtics shouting “Manny, Manny, Manny…” A rare sight, considering they are athlete-millionaires cheering another sportsman millionaire, and certainly much deserved by the Fiipino hero.

Manny Pacquiao wins the WBC Lightweight belt today after beating former champion David Diaz to a pulp with a knockout in the 9th round. Manny totally outclassed Diaz in the whole fight with Diaz suffering from two cuts and a tennis ball on his left eye. This result is not unexpected at all– Manny is the better, stronger, faster, more durable fighter.

Manny is now a record holder for being the first Asian to win championships in four weight divisions.

Mabuhay Manny! We love you!
