Fight Synopsis:

The battle between Z Gorres and Vic Darchinyan was one of Z’s most anticpated fights. See here in a video how the duel ended in a controversial split draw at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. February 02, 2008 witnessed how Darchinyan was credited a knockdown as Gorres clearly lost his balance because of a slip.

Watch here in the video below the scene where the the crowd went rowdy as they pelted the ring with coins and bottled water. Gorres tried to avenged himself in the second round as he peppered Darchinyan with a clean left hook to the face. Both fighters gave the audience a fierce trade of clean blows. The video of the 6th round displays the Filipino who got hit by a headbutt, causing an ugly gash on his right forehead.

Gorres bled profusely throughout the match and it seems his end was near. The Filipino showed endurance in the end still as he avoided Darchinyan’s blows with good head and body movements. He was successful at first but eventually, a left straight from Darchinyan nailed Gorres’ right shoulder and barely touched his face. The effect had Gorres dropped in the mat.

Darchinyan pounced Gorres with wild lefts, a few of them caught Gorres. Scores were 113-112 for Gorres, 114-112 for Darchinyan and the third judge saw it 113-113.

Fight Synopsis:

In August 11, 2007, Z Gorres did what was expected of him by outclassing a somewhat shopworn Eric Ortiz in Arco Arena, Sacramento, California, United States. Watch how he redeemed himself with his best punches and also see for yourself in a video here how he failed to budge the Mexican boxer. The video shows the bout was stopped due to Ortiz being cut.

Gorres is not a particularly hard hitter still, as the video here shows he has the looks and styles of someone who has been boxing at 115 pounds for more than four years really. It took long enough for Gorres to wear out his opponent as the fight lasted until the eight round of the supposed to be 12 round duel.

See in the video of the eight round how Z Gorres goes for a kill and Ortiz’ downfall was very much anticipated. Z’s endurance was unbelievable as he triggered jabs to Ortiz’s body. There was no backing out for the Filipino who displayed intense footwork and concentration as his keys to succeed in this fight.

It was only forty-seven minutes before the round eight was finished when Gorres pushed Ortiz to the ropes and creating an injury in his enemy’s head. The referee declared the fight over, making the Philippines champion of the World Cup against the Mexicans.

Fight Synopsis:

Z Gorres lost in this February 02, 2007 boxing fight against WBO super flyweight champion Fernando Montiel. The latter disappointed the Cebuanos watching in the Cebu City Sports Complex, Cebu, Philippines when he won via a split-decision. When you watch the the video here, you will see that hroughout the fight, it seemed as if the Filipino boxer will go home a winner. This was hindered though by two point deductions for holding, once in the tenth round and once in round twelve.

In the video, it is also noticeable how Gorres was up on the cards after round nine, but Montiel landing power punches in tenth round. This put the Pinoy fighter to hold Montiel in order to survive the round. This was repeated in the final round with Gorres rocking and holding just to survive. The only thing he did not survived with was the deductions on him. The scores were 115-111 Montiel, 115-111 Gorres, and 114-112 Montiel. In that event, Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao was watching from ringside noting that Gorres was not aggressive enough that’s why he lost to Montiel.

Fight Synopsis:

In the Sports & Cultural Complex, of Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines, Z Gorres earned a much-needed redemption from his previous loss when he merged victorious over Wisanu Pornobnum. The Thai who vowed to defeat his Filipino opponent gave in during their October 29, 2005 duel.
The brawl in the first round as shown in a video here saw Gorres’ hard jabs and snappy uppercuts to which his rival responded with straight lefts and rights. It was not long before reddish welts began to appear on the Thai’s face as an evidence of Gorres’ prowess.

Watch here the video where Gorres was acing the first round and proceeded to conquering the next round. Z was obviously more powerful and had found a rhythm of handing the Thai a steady diet of jabs and stinging body blows. Adding to this was his superiority technically. Pornobnum tried to bounce back in the third round and landed a few rights, but Z swiftly turned the tide by belting a plethora of hard bombs and blistering combinations.

“Early in Round 4, Z unhanded a monstrous uppercut followed by a stinging jab with the Thai fighter defenseless. His head snapped back viciously before falling down in a heap while Z strolled to the neutral corner. See for yourself in a video here how Gorres went for the kill. The Filipino knocked his enemy down via merciless overhand right. Pornobnum was dazed in the mat for ten minutes. With that victory, Z earned the right to challenge Masayuki Arinaga for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super-flyweight title.
